Frequently Asked Questions

Fill in the contact form above with as much detail as possible — the piece you have in mind, your intended use (display, LARP, reenactment, theatrical), your sizing measurements, and your rough budget. We'll respond within one business day with a tailored quote and indicative timeline. No commitment is required at the enquiry stage. Once you accept the quote, we require a 40% deposit to begin work.

Yes — we ship worldwide. Standard pieces ship via DHL Express with full tracking and insurance, typically arriving within 3–7 business days in Europe and 5–12 days internationally. Full armour commissions are shipped freight in custom-built wooden crates. Import duties and taxes in your country are the buyer's responsibility; we recommend consulting your local customs authority for current rates. Full shipping information is available on our Shipping Policy page.

Absolutely — we welcome workshop visits for commission fittings and consultations. Visits are by appointment only; please contact us via the form above to arrange a date and time. Our studio is in the historic Schmiedegasse (Smiths' Alley) of central Nürnberg, which makes for a wonderful day out even beyond the visit itself. Remote consultations via video call are also available for international clients.

For plate armour we use 1.2–2mm mild steel (EN 1.0038) for standard pieces, with the option of spring steel (EN 10083) or titanium for clients requiring superior hardness or reduced weight. All our chainmail uses 1.2mm mild steel wire for authentic heft and patina, hand-drawn and woven ring by ring in our workshop. Leather components use full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide sourced from German and Italian tanneries. All materials are detailed in the specification sheet accompanying every commission.

Ready-made items from our shop may be returned within 14 days of delivery in unused, original condition for a full refund excluding shipping costs. Bespoke commissions are non-refundable once work has commenced, as they are made specifically to your measurements and specifications. If a commission arrives with a manufacturing defect, we will repair or remake at no charge within 60 days of delivery. Full policy details are on our Returns & Refunds page.

All our LARP-rated pieces are built to withstand repeated use in full-contact events. We produce standard LARP armour from 1.2mm mild steel — lighter than combat-weight plate but fully protective against foam weapons — with rounded edges and stress-tested riveting. For full-contact steel fighting (e.g. IMCF, HMB), we offer competition-grade armour built to 2mm spring steel that meets international federation specifications. Please mention your intended use when enquiring so we can recommend the right build.

Yes — we supply a small number of carefully selected theatrical costumiers, museum collections, and established LARP retailers on a trade account basis. Minimum order values and lead-time guarantees apply. We don't list trade pricing publicly; please contact us with your company details and typical order volume via the form above, selecting "Wholesale & Trade" as the subject, and we'll send you our trade prospectus.

Steel armour should be wiped down after every use with a dry cloth to remove moisture. For storage, apply a thin coat of Renaissance Wax or a specialist gun oil — we include a small vial with every commission. Never store armour in plastic; use a breathable cloth bag in a dry, stable environment. Chainmail can be tumbled in a bag with sand or rice to remove surface rust, then re-oiled. Our full care guide is on the Journal, and each commission ships with a personalised care card.
